The first step to making your candles is to prepare the wax. To do
that, you first melt it in a double boiler. If you do not have a double
boiler here is how you can create one. You will need two different
sized pots. One pot must fit into the other. Fill the larger pot with
water, then spray the smaller pot with non-stick cooking spray and
place the solid wax inside. Then place the smaller pot inside the
larger pot. The water in the larger pot will prevent the wax from
burning. When the wax has melted, you hold the wick in place in the
middle of the mold and pour in the wax. Let it cool for four to six
hours before you attempt to remove it from the mold. If you find it
difficult to remove the candle from the mold, you can place the entire
mold into the freezer for half an hour. It will then be easier for you
to free the finished candle

Only your imagination will limit the types of candles you can make at
home. The colors, fragrances, and decorations give you a full palette
of options to experiment and perfect your craft. Some creative
enthusiasts even make their own molds by using liquid latex. This
enables them to create some truly artistic candles. The only problem
with latex molds is that they are generally too flexible to stand on
end so that you can pour the wax into the bottom of them. To overcome
that, you cut a hole in a piece of sturdy cardboard. The hole will
need to be big enough to allow the mold to slip through, but only as
far as to the lip. All latex molds need to have a lip at the bottom
for this purpose. The wax is then poured into the bottom of the mold
where the cardboard will support it.
